Don’t Miss a Lead: Keep Your Website Form Notifications Out of Spam

Your website’s contact forms are there for a reason—to help people get in touch with you. Whether it’s someone asking for a quote, submitting a question, or signing up for your newsletter, every form submission could be a potential customer or opportunity.

If those notifications are going to your spam folder, you might not even know someone reached out.

Most form submissions are sent via email. If your spam filter is too strict, or if you accidentally mark one of these messages as junk, future notifications from that address might get blocked. Even if the form was submitted by a spammer, hitting “mark as spam” can hurt legitimate message delivery.

• Whitelist your website’s sending email address. Add it to your safe sender list so messages go straight to your inbox.
• Check your spam folder regularly. If you find a real inquiry in there, mark it as “not spam.”
• Set up form confirmations. If your website platform allows it, set up an admin confirmation message, so you know every time a form is filled out.
• Use filters instead of spam reports. Instead of reporting spam submissions, use inbox rules or filters to automatically move unwanted messages to a folder without blocking legitimate ones.

Clear communication starts with making sure you actually receive it. Taking a few minutes to adjust your filters or check your spam folder could mean the difference between gaining or losing your next big customer.
